Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing
As Father’s Day approaches and we head into the weekend to celebrate, we want to follow up last week’s post, Chris’ Famous Teriyaki Salmon, with his next best recipe… his infamous HOMEMADE CAESAR SALAD DRESSING! And this is his legendary salad recipe that just so happens to pair well with a delicious piece of salmon. Hmmm…Coincidence? I think not!
So as you continue to plan your special Father’s Day meal (or any meal!) and are trying to come across the perfect side dish, we are so happy to inform you that you can stop your search and add this to your menu! We promise, it will not disappoint! BONUS – there are NO anchovies or raw egg which many traditional homemade caesar dressings call for. But don’t worry, this taste JUST AS GOOD, if not BETTER, than traditional caesar dressings.
After you try this recipe, you will never be able to, nor want to, purchase pre made caesar dressing again. Period. It has been a family favourite for as long as we can remember, and whenever we go to our family and friends for dinner, our dad is always asked to bring his caesar salad (perhaps we owe a big thank you to this recipe for getting us the “invite” to dinner parties over the years!). Your guests, friends, family and most importantly (for this weekend anyways), your FATHERS will love this salad.
Tips and Tricks to the Perfect Homemade Caesar Salad Dressing
We recommend using fresh, crisp romaine lettuce for this recipe! And make sure after you wash it, it is as dry as possible so that the salad won’t be watery. The last thing you want is a soggy salad.
If you are going to a dinner party, you can make the dressing ahead of time and keep it in a travel container, with your prepped lettuce in a separate bowl. That way, when dinner is almost ready to be served all you have to do is dress the salad. You want to make sure to not overdress it, so we recommend doing a little at a time and adding until it is just right!
Don’t be afraid to experiment with the amount of ingredients. If you love garlic – add another clove! Want a stronger lemon flavour – add more lemon! Although we love this dressing (and so do many others), you can totally use it as a guide to find a combination that works best for you! Just remember, if you start adding in more liquid, such as lemon or Worcestershire, you will have to add more mayo to keep the dressing creamy!
The last tip we have is the toppings. PARMESAN. Everything is better with cheese…including this dressing! Whether you put the parmesan on the lettuce before or after you toss it in the dressing (it doesn’t matter when you add it) make sure to put a GOOD amount on. This will make a huge difference in flavour, so don’t forget this step!
