Spicy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries…what a combination! We are big fans of regular fries, but we LOVE sweet potato fries. There’s just something about them that puts them above all of the others. Perhaps its the little kick they have, or the crispy parmesan coat on them. But whatever it is, they are, and always will be, one of our favourite go-to side dishes. Simple, yet delicious. We say that a lot don’t we?
These tasty fries are oven-baked to perfection and definitely a healthier option than the traditional deep-fried french fry.
There’s just something about cheese!
There’s just something about the addition to cheese that makes everything better. These fries are tossed in garlic powder, salt + pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper (optional if you don’t want them to be spicy), and of course, parmesan cheese!
Tips and Tricks
The first thing we recommend is trying to cut your sweet potatoes approximately all the same size! This will allow for even baking and prevent some fries from getting too crispy and others not at all.
Combine all the ingredients (minus the potatoes and oil) in a small dish and mix well together. Place your potatoes in a larger mixing bowl and coat them thoroughly with the avocado or olive oil. Once coated, then add all the spices and parmesan and mix.
When placing your coated sweet potatoes on a baking sheet, ensure they are well spaced out! This is a crucial step if you want your fries to get crispy! If you over crowd your baking sheet, the fries will get soft.
The Perfect Dip for These Spicy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries
This may possibly be the easiest dip to make.. so easy, we don’t even have a recipe for it.
- Mayo or greek/plain yogurt
- Sriracha
- Lemon
- Salt+Pepper
- Optional add-ins: Chipotle powder, garlic powder or fresh pressed garlic, fresh cilantro, chili powder, etc. Get creative!
Combine mayo (or yogurt), sriracha, lemon and salt+pepper in a small dish. Generally, we use 75% mayo, 25% sriracha (this can change based on who we are making it for), 2 lemon slices and salt+pepper, to taste. So easy, so yummy. You can totally play around with what works best for you!

Spicy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs. sweet potatoes washed and wedged
- 2 tablespoons avocado or olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- ⅓ cup parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Wash and cut potatoes to desired fry shape. Place in a large mixing bowl and add olive oil. Toss to ensure sweet potatoes are coated evenly.
- In a small mixing dish, combine garlic powder, salt, papper, paprika, cayenne pepper and parmesan. Mix together.
- Add spice and parmesan combination to the sweet potatoes and mix well ensuring fries are coated evenly.
- Place fries on a baking sheet, in a single layer and bake for 30-40 minutes or until fries are crispy.
- Serve and enjoy!
Delicious! We make these for after school snack, all the kids love them! The Parmesan cheese is the perfect touch.
