Hi, we’re the Gunnarson Sister’s!

Welcome to For Fisk Sake, a fish and seafood inspired blog, with the odd vegetarian recipe to keep things interesting. We totally understand cooking fish and seafood can be intimidating, and believe us when we say we are not experts nor professional chefs. However, we were extremely lucky to grow up in a home with parents who were fish and seafood gurus. We grew up indulging in homemade and delicious fish and seafood recipes and now get to make them ourselves.

Don’t worry..our recipes posts are short and sweet. No need to read our life story while trying to find the recipe. We’re here to showcase our parents AMAZING recipes, as well as our own creations, without the fluff in between.

The Story Behind the Blog

An old newspaper clipping of our parents at their store.

30 years ago, after living in Boston for a few years after they got married, our parents, Lisa and Chris, moved back to Ontario and were inspired to open a fish and seafood market in the small town we grew up in. The store was called, Tor’s Seafood Market, named after our Swedish Grandfather, Tor. Hence, why the name of our blog is For Fisk Sake, “fisk” meaning “fish” in Swedish. Although they haven’t owned the market for quite some time now, their love for seafood has never changed!

They raised us on all things fish, seafood and did an incredible job encompassing our Swedish heritage. Now, all entering new stages in our lives, the love of fish, seafood and good food brings our family together more than ever.

We are thrilled to finally be sharing the amazing recipes we grew up eating and giving the advice we have been so fortunate to receive from our amazing parents, to all of you!

Taken during a family trip to Sweden.

Thank you for following along and learning with us on our journey discovering all things fish and seafood.
